{"id":22832,"date":"2021-09-21T11:45:16","date_gmt":"2021-09-21T14:45:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=22832"},"modified":"2026-04-23T15:29:32","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T18:29:32","slug":"guangdong-removed-from-macaus-inbound-quarantine-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/guangdong-removed-from-macaus-inbound-quarantine-list","title":{"rendered":"Guangdong removed from Macau\u2019s inbound quarantine list"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Authorities have announced that no areas in the neighbouring province of Guangdong will remain on Macau&#8217;s inbound quarantine list as of September 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- The Nanhuaxi subdistrict in Haizhu district and the Jianshe subdistrict in Yuexiu district are the latest areas to be removed from <strong>Macau&#8217;s inbound quarantine list<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The news was announced by<strong>\u00a0Macau\u2019s Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre<\/strong>, which also reported that more parts of Fujian have been added to its inbound quarantine list due to an outbreak of Covid-19 Delta variant cases there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A few places in Guangzhou had also joined Macau&#8217;s quarantine-on-appearance list<\/strong>&nbsp;as of the start of September, following affirmation of various Covid-19 disease cases there.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mainland China continues to be the only country to have a\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/covid-19-vaccine-passports-could-speed-up-macau-tourism-recovery\">largely quarantine-free travel bubble<\/a>\u00a0with Macau. The <strong>province of Guangdong has been the biggest single source of Macau&#8217;s central area travellers this year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Macau&#8217;s Statistics and Census Service, during the first eight months of the year,\u00a0<strong>Macau welcomed more than 4.66m visitors from mainland China<\/strong>, and 60.6 per cent of them came from Guangdong.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fujian territory has been the second-biggest source of Macau&#8217;s inbound mainland Chinese tourists<\/strong>, but Macau saw only 224,000 visitor arrivals from that region between January to August \u2013 4.8 per cent of the 4.66m tourist arrivals Macau in the eight months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Macau unlikely to ease travel limits this year, analysts say<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to analysts at&nbsp;<strong>Sanford C. Bernstein Ltd<\/strong>, Macau is unlikely to remove its<strong>&nbsp;travel restrictions&nbsp;<\/strong>for people coming from places beyond mainland China before 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, analysts predicted GGR will start to improve in the fourth quarter.&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-posts-us31-2m-in-ggr-for-first-week-of-september\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GGR in September<\/a>&nbsp;could reach about 30 per cent of pre-pandemic levels and 40 per cent in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They added: \u201cLonger term, Individual Visit Scheme eVisa, group visa restart, and Hong Kong travel resumption will be necessary to drive gross gaming revenue (GGR) upwards.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Authorities have announced that no areas in the neighbouring province of Guangdong will remain on Macau&#8217;s inbound quarantine list as of September 21.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":19267,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Macau has largely removed Guangdong province from its inbound quarantine list as of September 21, while simultaneously adding specific areas in Fujian due to new COVID-19 Delta variant outbreaks.
