Sands China saw a 32.51 per cent drop in its shares while Wynn Resorts\u2019 share price declined by 10.85 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to analysts,\u00a0<strong>the drop could also be related to fears surrounding a possible new Covid-19 surge <\/strong>as cases have risen in China in recent days. <strong>Brokerage JP Morgan Securities<\/strong>\u00a0has downgraded Macau gaming stocks from &#8220;overweight&#8221; to \u201cneutral\/underweight\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Macau\u2019s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ)<\/strong>\u00a0has confirmed that a\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-public-consultation-on-gaming-law-to-be-held-in-h2\">public consultation<\/a>\u00a0on the revision of the city\u2019s gaming law will run until October 29. <strong>Authorities expect to finish the amendment of the gaming law<\/strong>\u00a0by the final quarter the year before presenting a draft bill to the Legislative Assembly.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the proposed changes are not confirmed, analysts believe the announcements have &#8220;already planted a seed of doubt in investors\u2019 minds.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Macau\u2019s current casino licences are <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-to-launch-consultation-on-gaming-rights-in-second-half\">due to expire in June 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Macau casino operators stocks have fallen heavily after the government suggested changes to the current city\u2019s gaming laws amid a public consultation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":22076,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Macau casino operators' stocks, including Sands China and Wynn Resorts, experienced significant declines following the government's announcement of a public consultation on proposed changes to the city's gaming laws.
