According to local media reports,\u00a0<strong>the fines were handed out by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In April, authorities announced that they would carry out <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/china-continues-fight-against-cross-border-gambling-activity\">a crackdown on capital flight utilized for cross-border gambling<\/a> this year.\u00a0The government also said<strong>\u00a0it would destroy networks for fundraising and for attracting gamblers in China<\/strong>\u00a0and remove gambling-related capital and technology chains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government is also<strong>\u00a0focusing on online payment platforms linked to gambling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">46,575 prosecuted for gambling-related crimes in H1<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Chinese authorities have reported an increase in prosecutions for&nbsp;<strong>gambling-related crimes&nbsp;<\/strong>in the first half of the year, mainly related to casinos in Macau. They said that 86.3 per cent of the prosecutions were for the \u201cestablishment of casinos\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They said&nbsp;<strong>46,575 people were prosecuted<\/strong>, up 27.7 per cent when compared with the same period of 2019.
