{"id":22470,"date":"2021-09-09T12:39:15","date_gmt":"2021-09-09T15:39:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=22470"},"modified":"2026-04-23T15:50:22","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T18:50:22","slug":"macau-to-revise-2021-ggr-forecast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-to-revise-2021-ggr-forecast","title":{"rendered":"Macau to revise 2021 GGR forecast"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lei Wai Nong, Macau&#8217;s secretary for economy and finance, has said the government will adjust its 2021 casino gross gaming revenue forecast after a decline in revenue in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Macau.-\u00a0<strong>Macau\u2019s gross gaming revenue (GGR)\u00a0<\/strong>in August has negatively impacted the city&#8217;s forecast for the year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The city recorded\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-down-47-7-in-august\">GGR or MOP$4.44bn (US$554.5m) for August<\/a>, down 47.7 per cent month-on-month and the lowest monthly GGR figure since September 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Lei Wai Nong<\/strong>, Macau&#8217;s secretary for economy and finance has now said that Macau is <strong>revising GGR forecasts for the year\u00a0<\/strong>for the city\u2019s revised budget, which will be submitted to the Legislative Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, he said\u00a0<strong>authorities were confident the city would see a rebound in the following months<\/strong>, especially during <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-raises-expectations-for-october-golden-week\">October&#8217;s Golden Week<\/a>. The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has predicted\u00a0<strong>the city could receive 30,000 visitors per day<\/strong>\u00a0during the October Golden Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lei Wai Nong said<strong>&nbsp;Macau had recorded 24,000 visitors on Tuesday, versus a normal day by day count of 21,000 for the principal half of this current year<\/strong>.
