Authorities now believe the October Golden Week will see nearly 30,000 visitors a day as the city continues to ease Covid-19 restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) now predicts\u00a0the city could receive 30,000 visitors per day<\/strong>\u00a0during the October Golden Week. The MGTO had previously said<\/a> it expected 25,000 visitors per day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Macau TDM, Andy Wu, president of the Travel Industry Council of Macau<\/strong>, said: “The number of tourists keeps rising, especially during weekends, after the validity period of the nucleic acid test is reverted to seven days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“When it comes to the October 1 Golden Week,\u00a0I hope we can exceed the record of 30,000 visitors per day\u00a0<\/strong>during the May Day Golden Week.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, the\u00a0number of visitors<\/a>\u00a0entering the city surpassed 20,000 a day on average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macau posts daily GGR of US$31.2m for the first week of September<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sanford C. Bernstein Ltd<\/strong> and JP Morgan Securities have reported that Macau\u2019s daily gross gaming revenue (GGR) <\/strong>for the first week of September was MOP250m (US$31.2m), showing a slight recovery from the previous month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JP Morgan pointed out that estimates for the first five days of September indicate that GGR was tracking at<\/strong> approximately 34 per cent of demand in September 2019<\/strong> \u2013 the month\u2019s last pre-pandemic comparison. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

GGR in early September was also lower than the MOP272m reached per day in July<\/strong>, when the market showed signs of recovery after authorities ended\u00a0restrictions for those coming from Guangdong<\/a>\u00a0as Covid-19 cases declined.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
