Authorities have granted Delta Corp permission to go ahead with the development of an integrated resort in Pernem, Goa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

India.-\u00a0Delta Corp\u00a0<\/strong>has said that\u00a0Goa\u2019s Investment Promotion Board has approved the company’s project<\/strong>\u00a0for a new integrated resort in Pernem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last December, the company announced the\u00a0acquisition of around 100 acres of land<\/a>\u00a0in Pernem, Goa for the development<\/strong> as it seeks to\u00a0shift operations from floating casinos to land-based casino resorts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta Corp currently\u00a0owns three of Goa\u2019s six floating casinos<\/strong>. It also has a casino in Sikkim and a five-star resort in Daman, for which it has applied for a casino licence. The company is also seeking to expand into Nepal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For many years,\u00a0the government has been seeking to move Goa’s floating casinos from the Mandovi River<\/strong>. Delta Corp said its land-based IR project will include hotels, a convention centre, a multiplex cinema, a water park, retail facilities as well as an electronic casino to boost tourism in Pernem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta Corp\u2018s casinos in Goa<\/a>\u00a0have been closed since April 29, but the company has been allowed to reopen its\u00a0venue in Sikkim<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In May, Delta Corp<\/a> asked authorities for a waiver on licence fees <\/strong>due to the impact on its venues. Delta Corp reported a consolidated net loss of Rs28.93 crore<\/strong> for the first quarter of the year. That compares to a profit of Rs57.77 crore in the previous quarter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Net sales declined 64.1 per cent to Rs75.87 crore<\/strong> when compared to the fourth quarter of last year, but were up 57 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
