Okura Holdings has announced it has closed three pachinko venues due to poor financial performance since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Japan.- Okura Holdings has announced the\u00a0permanent closure<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0three more pachinko parlours<\/strong>,\u00a0mainly due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the slow economic recovery. The company closed two venues in May<\/a>\u00a0due to the crisis in the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Okura Holdings said the closure was to allow a focus on better-performing outlets.<\/strong> One of the\u00a0pachinko venues<\/strong>\u00a0is located in Fukuoka Prefecture, while the other two are in Kawasaki city, Kanagawa Prefecture. All three ceased operations on August 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The operator said: “Taking into account the general adverse operating landscape and the\u00a0increasing competition from other forms of entertainment in Japan<\/strong>, the management considered it would be more beneficial to the group to focus its resources on other more promising pachinko halls.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Okura Holdings now has 12 Pachinko Venues<\/strong>, most of them located in Nagasaki Prefecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to diversify its income streams <\/strong>due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic<\/strong> on its business, Okura Holdings bought a 650 square-metre lot<\/strong>, a seven-story building, and a parking lot situated in Nagasaki\u2019s Sumiyoshimachi area for JPY442m (US$4m).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Okura Holdings said it has been exploring opportunities to enhance and diversify its revenue stream. It said the acquisition \u201cprovides an excellent opportunity for the group to expand its property investment<\/strong> portfolio.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the group, the purchase \u201cwill allow the group to benefit from any future capital appreciation<\/strong> and generate a new source of rental income.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
