Bernstein Ltd<\/strong>\u00a0have suggested\u00a0<strong>Macau could return to April and May visitor levels by October<\/strong>, after a decline during August amid <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-on-alert-after-a-community-outbreak-of-covid-19\">local Covid-19 cases<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the\u00a0<strong>Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO),\u00a0<\/strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-tourism-continues-to-rise-ggr-up-slightly\">760,000 tourists arrived in Macau<\/a>\u00a0in April and 866,063 in May thanks to the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-received-165500-visitors-arrivals-over-labour-day-break\">Labour Day break<\/a> \u2013 the\u00a0<strong>highest monthly tally\u00a0<\/strong>since January 2020, previous to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the last week of August, analysts reported that average daily border movement in both directions by visitors was about 35,000 instances, up 7 per cent when compared to the previous week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MGTO has predicted the\u00a0<strong>city could receive 25,000 visitors<\/strong>\u00a0per day during the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-expects-25000-visitors-per-day-during-october-golden-week\">October Golden Week<\/a>. This year, the October Golden Week will be held during the first seven days of October. Last year, the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/visitation-to-macau-surpasses-20000-a-day\">number of visitors<\/a>\u00a0entering the city surpassed 20,000 a day on average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Macao Government Tourism Office director&nbsp;<strong>Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes&nbsp;<\/strong>said: \u201cThe October Golden Week is a very important period as everyone is hoping to achieve a better business performance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Macau could receive between 7 and 8 million visitors this year<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In June, the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-expects-between-up-to-8-million-visitors-in-2021\">MGTO<\/a>\u00a0predicted the city could receive between\u00a0<strong>7 and 8 million visitors this year<\/strong>. That compares to previous forecasts of between\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-expects-between-6-and-10-million-visitors-in-2021\">6 and 10 million arrivals<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes&nbsp;<\/strong>changed her predictions after a<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>rise in Covid-19 cases in the&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-tightens-controls-amid-rise-in-covid-19-cases-in-guangdong\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">province of Guangdong<\/a>&nbsp;in June.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sanford C.
