Authorities in Metro Manila have announced that the capital of The Philippines will remain under the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) until September 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Philippines.- Authorities have announced that\u00a0Manila will remain under the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ)<\/strong>\u00a0until September 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Capital city moved from the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) to MECQ last week with the countermeasures<\/a>\u00a0to remain until the end of the month. However,\u00a0the government decided to extend them for at least a week<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Philippines recorded 18,528 new cases of Covid-19 on Sunday. However,\u00a0the government is analysing so-called \u201cgranular\u201d lockdowns<\/strong>, specifically targeting the outbreak area rather than putting the entire province under countermeasures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the MECQ,\u00a0casinos in the Entertainment City zone<\/a>\u00a0will remain closed. There have been no announcements<\/strong>\u00a0on a possible reopening in the short term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Philippines expects to have 70 per cent of its population fully vaccinated by February 2022<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Department of Health Secretary<\/a> Francisco Duque III has said he expects the Philippines to achieve a 70 per cent vaccination rate<\/strong> for Covid-19 by February 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the country is progressing at\u00a0an average daily rate of nearly 400,000 vaccinations per day<\/strong>, however, the process has been slow due to delays in the arrival of vaccines. To date,\u00a0only 12.2 per cent of the Philippines\u2019 population<\/strong>\u00a0has been fully vaccinated.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several Manila\u2019s IRs have rolled out vaccination programmes<\/strong> in order to get their staff vaccinated. The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR<\/a>) has announced a workforce immunisation rate of 94 per cent<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regulator said 11,473 employees out of 12,176 were vaccinated against Covid-19 and added it hopes to complete the immunization of 100 per cent of its workforce.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
