Crown Resorts has announced that Ziggy Switkowski will replace Helen Coonan as chairman of the group once regulatory approval is received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Australia.- Ziggy Switkowski<\/strong> will replace Helen Coonan<\/a>\u00a0as chairman of Crown Resorts. Coonan had announced she would step down by the end of August<\/strong> amid ongoing inquiries into the operator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Switkowski is currently the chancellor of RMIT University<\/strong>\u00a0and a non-executive chairman of NBN Co. Crown\u2019s non-executive director Jane Halton will serve as interim chairman until regulatory approval is received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Coonan had assumed the role on an interim basis after\u00a0Ken Barton stepped down following<\/a>\u00a0the ILGA\u2019s inquiry into Crown\u2019s fitness to keep its licence for its Crown Sydney property. However, Adrian Finanzio<\/strong>, the counsel assisting Victoria\u2019s Royal Commission into Crown Resorts questioned the appropriateness of Coonan remaining in the position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Coonan said: “It has been a privilege to serve on the Crown Board [\u2026] driving a transformation of the culture, governance and compliance of what is a unique Australian company.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n She added: “Crown is firmly on a pathway to rebuild trust and positioned for success over the long term.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The announcement of Helen Coonan’s replacement comes after the company named Steve McCann<\/a> <\/strong>as chief executive officer of Crown Melbourne<\/strong> in addition to his role as CEO of Crown Resorts<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n McCann will relocate from Sydney to Melbourne\u00a0<\/strong>as soon as possible subject to Covid-19 interstate travel restrictions. He will replace\u00a0Xavier Walsh<\/a>, who stepped down due to heavy criticism during Victoria\u2019s Royal Commission into Crown Resorts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
