Macau.- After a rise in the\u00a0daily tally of inbound tourists<\/a>\u00a0after a brief Covid-19 scare earlier in the month, authorities in Macau have announced a relaxation in border entry requirements<\/strong>\u00a0for people coming from Guangdong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The government has already announced an extension for the\u00a0validity of negative Covid-19 tests<\/strong>\u00a0for visitors from Guangdong province from 48 hours to seven days. Now authorities expect to continue\u00a0easing border restrictions amid a rise in the number of flights\u00a0<\/strong>in the following weeks in time for the October Golden Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Macao Government Tourism Office<\/a>\u00a0director\u00a0Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes\u00a0<\/strong>predicted Macau could receive 25,000 visitors per day during the October Golden Week. This year, the October Golden Week will be held during the first seven days of October. Last year, the\u00a0number of visitors<\/a>\u00a0entering the city surpassed 20,000 a day on average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The news comes after no new local Covid-19 cases<\/a>\u00a0of Covid-19 emerged following mass testing.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Macau\u2019s Public Security Police<\/strong>\u00a0has reported that Macau\u2019s visitor arrivals between August 14 to 18 were up 168 per cent when compared to the previous week. There were over 30,000 entries and exits daily between August 16 to 18, up 65 per cent when compared to the previous week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In July,\u00a0Macau\u2019s Public Security Police<\/a>\u00a0reported that\u00a0789,407 visitors came to Macau,\u00a0<\/strong>a growth of 49.36 per cent month-on-month.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mainland China continues to be the only country to have a largely quarantine-free travel bubble<\/a> with Macau. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Sanford C.
