Macau\u2019s statistics bureau has reported that the number of Macau’s workers in the gaming sector dropped 2.8 per cent year-on-year in the second quarter of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- According to\u00a0Macau\u2019s statistics bureau<\/strong>, casino operators are\u00a0looking for local workers to hire. Vacancies in the gaming sector have grown 124 per cent\u00a0<\/strong>and the government in Macau encourages companies to recruit locals only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The earnings of Macau table-games dealers grew 3.5 per cent\u00a0year-on-year in June, <\/strong>with an average income of MOP19,950 (US$2,486). Full-time employees’ average earnings at Macau casinos increased 2.1 per cent<\/strong>\u00a0to MOP23,690. However, directors and managers saw their salaries decline 10.2 per cent year-on-year to MOP52,130.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are currently\u00a055,768 full-time employees in the gaming sector<\/strong>, down 2.9 per cent by 1,691 from the prior-year period.\u00a0As for new recruits during the second quarter, 466 workers were hired in the gaming sector\u00a0<\/strong>and 1,016 employees left their jobs in the same period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A week ago, authorities also revealed the\u00a0<\/strong>number of foreign workers in Macau<\/a>\u00a0had\u00a0decreased 11 per cent<\/strong>\u00a0since the start of the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Macau\u2019s Labour Affairs Bureau, Macau saw 852 fewer non-resident workers during the second quarter of the year <\/strong>when compared to the previous period. Wholesale and retail trade were the most affected industries, followed by hotel restaurant and gaming sectors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
