Genting Malaysia\u2019s share price rose 4.06 per cent after Malaysia’s Prime Minister announced an easing of Covid-19 restrictions for fully vaccinated people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Malaysia.- A relaxation of some Covid-19 restrictions <\/strong>in the eight states that have higher vaccination rates and have reduced case numbers has been well-received by the market. Genting Bhd and Genting Malaysia Bhd’s share prices\u00a0<\/strong>rose to MYR4.73 and MYR2.82 after the news.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to The Edge Markets, authorities will allow dining in restaurants, outdoor individual sports and interstate tourism. However,\u00a0it is still unknown if casinos will be allowed to reopen\u00a0<\/strong>in the short term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resorts World Genting<\/a>\u2018s casino has been closed since Macy. It\u00a0closed all of its services\u00a0<\/strong>in June, after Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin announced a nationwide\u00a0Covid-19 lockdown.<\/strong> Until then, the resort\u2019s hotels, food and beverage outlets, shopping malls, retail outlets and other facilities remained open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Genting Bhd\u2019s share price of MYR4.73 valued the company at about MYR18.33bn, while Genting Malaysia’s share price of MYR2.82 gave the company a value of about MYR16.75bn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In July, Genting Malaysia applied for one of the\u00a0five digital bank licences\u00a0<\/strong>to be issued by Malaysia\u2019s central bank, Bank Negara Malaysia, in the first quarter of 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June,\u00a0the company<\/a>\u00a0was also involved in a group of investors that raised\u00a0US$100m for Sightline Payments LLC<\/strong>, a company involved in developing\u00a0digital payment technology<\/strong>\u00a0for sports betting and casino markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sightline Payment acquired Joingo LLC<\/strong>, a company that has a patented mobile loyalty platform<\/strong> that enables casino brands to reach their customers with interactive and personalised mobile marketing campaigns.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
