Victoria\u2019s Royal Commission into Crown Resorts has heard that Helen Coonan will resign from her role by the end of the month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Australia.- More\u00a0changes are expected on Crown Resorts’ board<\/strong>\u00a0in a bid to satisfy Victoria\u2019s Royal Commission, with Helen Coonan to step down as chairman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The news comes after Xavier Walsh<\/a>‘s exit\u00a0as chief executive officer<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0Crown Melbourne<\/strong>\u00a0on August 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael Borsky<\/strong>, the company’s senior counsel, said Crown has already started to analyse\u00a0possible replacements for Coonan<\/strong>\u00a0and expects to appoint a new leader by August 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coonan assumed the role on an interim basis after\u00a0Ken Barton stepped down\u00a0following<\/a> the ILGA\u2019s inquiry into Crown\u2019s fitness to keep its licence for its Crown Sydney property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adrian Finanzio<\/strong>, the counsel assisting Victoria\u2019s Royal Commission into Crown Resorts had questioned the appropriateness of Coonan remaining in the position<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Victoria\u2019s Royal Commission<\/a> into Crown Resorts will continue up to October 15<\/strong> after the government approved judge Raymond Finkelstein\u2019s request for an extension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to tighten controls over casino operators and gambling venues<\/a>, authorities have announced the creation of a new regulator for the state of Victoria.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCC)<\/strong> will replace the VCGLR and eventually control and monitor all gambling and gaming services<\/strong> in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Melissa Horne,\u00a0<\/strong>the state\u2019s minister for consumer affairs, gaming and liquor regulation, said the VGCC would be stricter than the VCFLR and it wouldn\u2019t tolerate unethical practices. Nobody has yet been appointed to\u00a0chair the new gambling commission<\/strong>.
