Macau.- According to Macau’s director of the Labour Affairs Bureau,\u00a0the majority of Macau’s six casino operators are led by local ID holders<\/strong>, with 90.3 per cent of middle and senior management positions held by locals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The number exceeds the\u00a0government target of at least 85 per cent, with 8,865 local employees<\/strong>\u00a0in such roles at the end of the first half of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Chan Un Tong<\/strong>, a deputy director of the bureau, noted that as of June, the casino industry employees more than 108,000 people \u2013 77 per cent of them were local ID holders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During a meeting, Labour Affairs Bureau officials said that they will continue encouraging the city\u2019s companies to prioritise employing local staff as Macau looks to amend its gaming law<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Macau\u2019s\u00a0current casino licences\u00a0<\/strong>are due to\u00a0expire in June 2022<\/strong>, but many people expect them to be extended.
