Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) has reported KRW7.57bn (US$6.62m) in casino sales for July, down 48.5 per cent when compared to the previous month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

South Korea.- The South Korean operator of foreigner-only casinos Grand Korea Leisure (GKL)<\/strong> has reported that casino sales declined by 48.5 per cent <\/strong>month-on-month in July to KRW7.57bn (US$6.62m).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Table games <\/strong>generated KRW6.09bn, down 54.1 per cent month-on-month and down 47.8 per cent when compared to last year. Machine game sales declined 4.1 per cent<\/strong>\u00a0to KRW1.48bn, down 41.4 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first seven months of the current year,\u00a0Grand Korea Leisure registered casino sales of KRW47.86bn<\/strong>, down 67.5 per cent year-on-year. Table games aggregate sales\u00a0<\/strong>reached KRW40.30bn between January and July, down 69 per cent. Machine game sales\u00a0<\/strong>were KRW7.56bn, down 56.7 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GKL<\/a>\u00a0reported\u00a0a net loss for the first quarter of KRW37.43bn (US$33.4m)<\/strong>. It also reported an operating loss of KRW46.64bn<\/strong>\u00a0compared to an operating profit of KRW26.92bn in the same quarter last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seoul under \u201cLevel 4\u201d social distancing rules until at least August 9<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Last week, authorities announced that Seoul will remain under \u201cLevel 4\u201d<\/a> social distancing rules until August 9. Casinos have a maximum daily capacity of no more than 30 per cent<\/strong> of their pre-pandemic norm and must close by 10pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GKL<\/a> temporarily closed its Seven Luck Seoul Gangnam <\/strong>between July 20 and July 22 to carry out disinfection after a worker tested positive for Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A week before, the casino operator announced a snap-closure at the\u00a0Seven Luck Casino Millennium Seoul<\/a>, which was closed as a \u201cpre-emptive measure\u201d aimed to\u00a0avoid the spread of Covid-19 cases<\/strong>\u00a0to protect the safety of customers and employees.\u00a0The\u00a0Seven Luck Seoul Gangnam<\/strong>\u00a0was also previously closed a few days before, from July 10 to 12.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
