Casinos in the Entertainment City zone in Metro Manila have decided to close amid a rise in cases of the delta variant of Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Philippines.- Days after Manila\u2019s city government decided to extend the current\u00a0general community quarantine (GCQ)<\/a>\u00a0until August 15<\/strong>, some casinos have decided to\u00a0close from August 6 to Augusto 20<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision was taken following the guidelines from the Philippine government <\/strong>and PAGCOR<\/a> as the delta variant of Covid-19 spreads <\/strong>in The Philippines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resorts World Manila<\/strong>\u00a0said: “Leisure stays at the hotels as well as dine-in services will be suspended during the lockdown. Most of the restaurants at Resorts World Manila\u2019s Newport Mall and hotels will offer takeaway or delivery instead, during this period.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Okada Manila<\/strong>\u00a0casino resort and\u00a0City of Dreams Manila<\/strong>\u00a0have taken a similar decision, while Solaire Resort and Casino has not confirmed if it will close.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although Manila is under GCQ with heightened restrictions,\u00a0casinos<\/a>\u00a0were allowed to resume operating\u00a0<\/strong>at a reduced capacity in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under current\u00a0countermeasures,<\/a>\u00a0only\u00a0those between 18-65 years of age<\/strong>\u00a0are allowed to leave their place of residence and only selected businesses are permitted to open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PAGCOR income from gaming operations down 20 per cent in the first half<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

PAGCOR<\/a>\u00a0has revealed that\u00a0gaming income for the first half fell by 20 per cent year-on-year<\/strong>\u00a0to PHP14.7bn (US$293.1m). In the first six months, the\u00a0regulator made a profit of PHP79m<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PAGCOR<\/a>\u00a0previously reported that gaming revenue\u00a0fell by 51.4 per cent year-on-year\u00a0<\/strong>to PHP8.36bn (US$172.8m)\u00a0in the first quarter<\/strong>, compared to nearly PHP17.22bn (US$339.8m) in the first quarter of 2020.
