The Philippine casino operator has reported EBITDA of PHP1.03bn (US$20.5m) for the second quarter of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Philippines.- Casino operator Bloomberry has reported gross gambling revenue (GGR) of PHP5.67bn <\/strong>for Q2 at the Solaire venue, down 18 per cent when compared to the previous quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation\u00a0(EBITDA) was PHP1.03bn (US$20.5m), down 31.2 per cent from the previous quarter\u00a0<\/strong>as the\u00a0Solaire Resort\u00a0<\/strong>was closed for 44 days due to Covid-19 countermeasures. However, the casino operator saw an improvement from the negative figure reported a year earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bloomberry reported\u00a0net revenue for the second quarter of PHP4.71bn<\/strong>, down 14.7 per cent when compared to the previous quarter. However, the figure was up 400 per cent year-on-year. Its net loss came in at\u00a0<\/strong>PHP1.16bn, which represents an improvement from PHP4.70bn a year earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enrique Razon<\/strong>, Bloomberry\u2019s chairman and chief executive, said: \u201cBloomberry generated respectable results during the quarter despite having virtually no gaming operations between April and mid-May.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the first quarter,\u00a0Bloomberry<\/a>\u00a0reported consolidated\u00a0net EBITDA at Solaire Resort & Casino in Manila of PHP1.49bn (US$31.2m)<\/strong>, down 58.2 per cent from the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manila under GCQ until August 15<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As the delta variant of Covid-19 spreads <\/strong>in The Philippines, Manila\u2019s city government has decided to extend the general community quarantine (GCQ) until August 15<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Countermeasures<\/a> were supposed to end on July 31, but authorities called an emergency meeting to discuss mitigation strategies against the spread of the variant, coordinating with hospitals and the city\u2019s Health Department<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only those between 18-65 years of age<\/strong> are allowed to leave their place of residence and only selected businesses are permitted to open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
