During the raids, police seized mobile phones, computers, tablets and cash amounting to RM20,184.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Malay Mail, the <strong>illegal online gambling centres were targeting students, government employees and senior citizens<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those arrested are aged between 19 and 58 years and were placed under remand while police classified the case under the\u00a0<strong>Common Gaming Houses Act 1953<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police also reported that during July, officers conducted <strong>525 raids related to online gambling centres<\/strong> in which 705 individuals were arrested: 549 caretakers and 156 players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In July,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/malaysia-28-arrested-for-online-gambling\">police in Malaysia<\/a><strong>\u00a0arrested 28 people<\/strong>\u00a0in three condominium units in Jalan Stoner over allegations of\u00a0<strong>online gambling activities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to officers, those arrested ran a<strong>&nbsp;call centre promoting online gambling activities&nbsp;<\/strong>and tried to persuade customers to visit websites to invest and buy non-existent products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Local media reports that&nbsp;<strong>those arrested are 22 men and six women, aged 17 to 53 years<\/strong>&nbsp;who were making a profit of RM5,000 per day.
