Macau.- The Federation of Macau Workers\u2019 Associations (FAOM) has had a meeting with the new Secretary for Economy and Finance, Lei Wai Nong, to discuss the future of the gambling industry in Macau. As part of the discussion, the FAOM said it was vital for casino operators to do more when it comes to social responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a statement released after the meeting, FAOM said efforts should be made to \u201ccreate a harmonious working relationship\u201d, to \u201cincrease gaming operators non-gambling elements\u201d to “diversify the SAR\u2019s economy\u201d as well as \u201cwidening the work opportunities of workers \u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Secretary for Economy and Finance said: \u201cThe Government remains committed to protecting the rights and interests of local workers, coordinating relations between employers and workers, and improving vocational and occupational safety and health training in order to encourage the vertical mobilization of local workers.\u201d
