Macau has reported gross gambling revenue of MOP8.44bn (US$1.05bn) for July, up 29 per cent when compared with the previous month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.-\u00a0Macau\u2019s Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR)\u00a0<\/strong>grew 29 per cent after a weak June. At MOP8.44bn (US$1.05bn), the figure was also up 528 per cent when compared to July 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aggregate\u00a0casino GGR for the first seven months of the year<\/strong>\u00a0totals MOP57.4bn, up 64 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

July’s figures came after authorities ended\u00a0restrictions for those coming from Guangdong<\/a>\u00a0as Covid-19 cases declined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite an overall improvement,\u00a0Macau’s GGR<\/a>\u00a0declined during the third week of July as a new\u00a0wave of Covid-19 cases in neighbouring provinces<\/strong>\u00a0may have affected the arrival of visitors to Macau.\u00a0Macau has recently imposed a 14-day quarantine on visitors from\u00a0four Chinese provinces<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

May remains the month with the highest GGR of the year to date<\/strong>, mainly thanks to the\u00a0Labour Day break<\/a>, when Macau\u2019s Public Security Police reported that\u00a0165,500 tourists came to Macau<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Occupancy rate at Macau hotels was up 23.2 per cent in H1<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC)<\/a> has reported that 3,378,000 tourists checked into Macau hotels and guesthouses<\/strong> in the first six months of the year. The average hotel occupancy rate reached 50.4 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO)<\/strong> director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes<\/a> has said she believes Macau may see an average nightly hotel occupancy rate of between 70 per cent to 80 per cent<\/strong> during the summer holiday months of July and August.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
