The WA government has announced that Western Australia’s Royal Commission into Crown Perth will be extended until March 2022 to give commissioners more time to carry out investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Australia.- The Western Australian Royal Commission into\u00a0Crown Perth will continue until March 2022\u00a0<\/strong>after requesting an extension to continue its inquiry into the company’s suitability\u00a0<\/strong>to\u00a0continue holding a casino gaming licence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It follows a similar decision for Victoria\u2019s Royal Commission<\/a>, which will continue until October 15<\/strong>\u00a0after the government approved judge Raymond Finkelstein\u2019s request for an extension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The WA Royal Commission was expected to deliver\u00a0a final report by November 14\u00a0<\/strong>but Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan said: “The state government believes that public interest will be best served if the Perth casino Royal Commission has sufficient time to produce its final report.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former Supreme Court justices Neville Owen<\/strong> and Lindy Jenkins <\/strong>together with former auditor-general Colin Murphy have already sent an interim report <\/strong>to the governor of Western Australia<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Owen said: \u201cSo far as we are aware, this is the first time since the grant of the casino licence in 1988 that there has been an inquiry into these issues<\/strong> and given social changes in over 30 years, there is an increased importance to an inquiry of this kind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe will be concerned with grave matters of private and public interest and we enter into this investigation with that firmly in mind.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Western Australian\u2019s regulator<\/strong> has already prohibited Crown Resorts<\/a> from running high-roller activities at its Perth casino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Star Entertainment withdraws offer for Crown Resorts<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Star Entertainment Group<\/a>\u00a0has withdrawn its offer to buy Crown Resorts following suggestions that the operator should lose its\u00a0casino licence<\/a>\u00a0for Crown Melbourne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In May, Star Entertainment<\/a> made an unsolicited non-binding offer of AU$12bn<\/strong> (US$9.4bn)<\/strong> for the casino operator. However, Adrian Finanzio<\/strong>, the counsel assisting Victoria\u2019s Royal Commission into Crown Resorts, has told the inquiry that Crown should lose its Melbourne licence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finanzio<\/strong> said that evidence against Crown showed \u201cserious misconduct, illegal conduct and highly inappropriate conduct.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Star Entertainment said: \u201cIssues raised at Victoria\u2019s Royal Commission into Crown Melbourne have the potential to materially impact the value of Crown<\/strong>, including whether it retains the license to operate its Melbourne casino or the conditions under which its license is retained.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
