{"id":20629,"date":"2021-07-23T16:47:05","date_gmt":"2021-07-23T16:47:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=20629"},"modified":"2026-04-23T17:17:41","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T20:17:41","slug":"the-londoner-to-open-fully-in-time-for-october-golden-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/the-londoner-to-open-fully-in-time-for-october-golden-week","title":{"rendered":"The Londoner to open fully in time for October Golden Week"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>President of Sands China, Wilfred Wong, said the Londoner Macau will have a full opening just ahead of October&#8217;s Golden Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- Wilfred Wong Ying Wai, president of Sands China Ltd, has said that The Londoner Macau will see its full opening in time for October&#8217;s Golden Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/the-londoner-macao-officially-opens\">Phase I<\/a>\u00a0of the operator\u2019s revamped and renamed Cotai casino resort\u00a0<strong>was inaugurated in February\u00a0<\/strong>with the resort\u2019s Crystal Palace, inspired by the concept of the original Victorian structure at London\u2019s Great Exhibition of 1851.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to\u00a0<strong>Wilfred Wong<\/strong>, the exteriors of the venue, including a replica of the Palace of Westminster\u2019s Elizabeth Tower, known popularly as \u2018Big Ben\u2019, will be completed in coming months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the 6,000\u2013seat arena will not be completed until the first quarter of next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Londoner casino has\u00a0<strong>a capacity for up to 450 tables and 2,000 slot machines<\/strong>.\u00a0In June,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/sands-expects-the-londoner-to-see-similar-revenue-to-the-venetian\">Rob Goldstein<\/a>, Las Vegas Sands\u2019 chairman and CEO, said it could reach the\u00a0<strong>same level of revenue as The Venetian<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>October&#8217; Golden Week<\/strong>, coinciding with China\u2019s National Day on October 1 is\u00a0<strong>highly expected by the tourism and gaming sector<\/strong>s. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, it was a peak period for casino revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/sands-china-posts-us166-in-net-losses-for-q2\">Sands China<\/a>\u00a0has reported figures for the second quarter of 2021, with US$166m in net losses and\u00a0<strong>revenues up at US$849m<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>Adjusted property EBITDA was US$132m<\/strong>, compared to a loss of US$312m for the second quarter of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The largest proportion of revenue came from&nbsp;<strong>The Venetian Macau,&nbsp;<\/strong>which generated US$391m, while The Londoner generated US$189m and the Parisian Macau US$101m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the first quarter,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/sands-china-reports-revenue-of-us771m-for-q1\">Sands China<\/a>\u00a0reported<strong>\u00a0net revenue of US$771m<\/strong>, a 5 per cent year-on-year decline compared to the first quarter of 2020 but a\u00a0<strong>15.1 per cent increase from US$675m in the fourth quarter of 2020<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President of Sands China, Wilfred Wong, said the Londoner Macau will have a full opening just ahead of October&#8217;s Golden Week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":20630,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Sands China's President, Wilfred Wong, confirmed The Londoner Macau's full operational launch ahead of October's Golden Week, with its 6,000-seat arena scheduled for Q1 next year.
