{"id":20559,"date":"2021-07-22T15:23:52","date_gmt":"2021-07-22T15:23:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=20559"},"modified":"2026-04-23T17:22:00","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T20:22:00","slug":"grand-lisboa-palace-looks-set-to-open-by-september","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/grand-lisboa-palace-looks-set-to-open-by-september","title":{"rendered":"Grand Lisboa Palace looks set to open by September"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>SJM Holdings has announced that it will host an art exhibition at Grand Lisboa Palace from September 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/grand-lisboa-palace-opening-pushed-back-to-q3\">Grand Lisboa Palace<\/a>\u00a0could finally get its long-awaited opening as<strong>\u00a0SJM Holdings <\/strong>has announced the venue will host an <strong>art exhibition\u00a0<\/strong>from September 1 to October 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the company is still waiting for approval from the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and for the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) Occupancy Permit (OP), which <strong>could take between four and eight weeks.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company plans to\u00a0<strong>open just one of its three hotels initially<\/strong>, with limited retail options. It will <strong>open with 260 mass tables\u00a0<\/strong>while the remaining\u00a0<strong>44 VIP tables will be launched in 2022<\/strong>, after the opening of the venue&#8217;s Versace-branded hotel.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Grand Lisboa Palace&nbsp;<\/strong>involved an investment of HKD39bn (US$5bn). When complete,&nbsp;<strong>it will have around 2,000 hotel rooms<\/strong>&nbsp;split between three venues: The Lisboa Palace Hotel, Palazzo Versace Macau, and Karl Lagerfeld Hotel luxury boutique hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It includes&nbsp;<strong>27,000 square metres of gaming floor space&nbsp;<\/strong>(290,000 sq ft) for up to&nbsp;<strong>700 gaming tables and 1,200 electronic gaming machines<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/sjm-confirms-grand-lisboa-palace-will-open-in-first-half-of-2021\">Cotai integrated resort<\/a>\u00a0<strong>was originally due to open in 2017<\/strong>\u00a0but has faced multiple delays. If<strong>\u00a0Grand Lisboa Palace finally opens by September<\/strong>, it will be the only integrated resort to have opened in Macau during the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>SJM wants to operate casino at new Cotai property<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SJM Holdings wants to operate a casino&nbsp;<\/strong>at the Lisboeta, located next to the Macau East Asian Games Dome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lisboeta is part of a bigger project,<strong>&nbsp;the Macau Theme Park and Resort<\/strong>, or Lisboeta Macau Park.
