Macau has reported that mass-market GGR for the second quarter of the year represented nearly 66.5 per cent of total casino gaming revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Macau.-\u00a0The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ)\u00a0<\/strong>has revealed\u00a0Macau’s mass-market GGR<\/strong>\u00a0accounted for\u00a0about 66.5 per cent\u00a0<\/strong>of total casino gaming revenue during the second quarter of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At MOP16.8bn (US$2.11bn), the figure represents an\u00a0increase of 16 per cent<\/strong>\u00a0when compared to the previous quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n VIP baccarat was down 6.8 per cent quarter-on-quarter<\/strong>, representing 33.5 per cent of total GGR. Mass-market baccarat represented 54.8 per cent of the GGR, up 15.4 per cent quarter-on-quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During the second quarter of the year,\u00a0Macau’s GGR was up 7.3 per cent\u00a0<\/strong>to MOP25.3bn, while non-casino revenue, which includes sports betting and horse racing, rose 14 per cent to MOP195m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During the first week of July, Sanford C. Bernstein<\/a> reported that Macau GGR <\/strong>was up 16 per cent when compared to the previous week<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In June, Macau registered its lowest GGR<\/a> since November 2020, with a drop of 37 per cent month-on-month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The drop in June was partly due to an outbreak of Covid-19 cases<\/a> in the neighbouring province of Guangdong, which led Macau to tighten Covid-19 countermeasures at casinos<\/a> and other tourism venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to analysts, Macau\u2019s GGR in July will be up 50 per cent <\/strong>when compared to March. Authorities have ended restrictions for those coming from Guangdong<\/a> as Covid-19 cases decline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
