{"id":20385,"date":"2021-07-16T17:01:03","date_gmt":"2021-07-16T17:01:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=20385"},"modified":"2026-04-23T17:31:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T20:31:19","slug":"tab-nz-announces-first-board-appointments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/tab-nz-announces-first-board-appointments","title":{"rendered":"TAB NZ announces first board appointments"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>TAB NZ has announced the members of its first board created under the Racing Act passed in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>New Zealand.- <strong>Grant Robertson<\/strong>, New Zealand&#8217;s racing minister, has announced who will be the members of the\u00a0<strong>first TAB NZ Board<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The TAB NZ Board was created under the<strong>\u00a0Racing Act passed in 2020<\/strong>. The act establishes a selection panel to make recommendations to the racing minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Robertson said: \u201cThe selection panel has taken particular care to work thoroughly through the process to identify suitable candidates. I thank them for their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am excited to have the new Board in place. This is<strong>&nbsp;a significant step for TAB New Zealand<\/strong>. I also want to thank the interim Board for the work it has done to help get us to this point.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The board includes three people nominated by the racing codes and up to four other members who have a range of k<strong>nowledge and experience outlined in the Act<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Robertson, all of the selected members come with experience in racing and sport administration, business and governance, the betting industry, broadcasting and gambling harm minimisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The board will comprise:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Mark Stewart<\/strong>: chairman of the board, with experience in governance background, including in sports and recreation.<\/li><li><strong>Anna Stove<\/strong>: deputy chair. Stove was a member of the interim Board, and brings strong commercial acumen and racing sector knowledge.<\/li><li><strong>Bill Birnie<\/strong>: one of the members nominated by the racing codes. Birnie has worked in the racing and sport sectors and in audit and risk governance.<\/li><li><strong>Paul Bittar<\/strong>: another of the members nominated by the racing codes. Bittar worked in the racing and sport sectors in Australia and New Zealand and has experience in wagering.<\/li><li><strong>Jason Fleming<\/strong>: the third member nominated by the racing codes. He has experience in the racing industry and worked across all aspects of Class 4 gaming.<\/li><li><strong>Wendie Harvey<\/strong>: a gambling Commissioner with experience in strategy, business and culture transformation.<\/li><li><strong>Raewyn Lovett:<\/strong>\u00a0director at Sport NZ. Lovett has experience in sports administration and corporate law.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Robertson,\u00a0<strong>the first TAB NZ board will start its activities by August 1<\/strong>.
