{"id":20201,"date":"2021-07-13T14:19:25","date_gmt":"2021-07-13T14:19:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=20201"},"modified":"2026-04-23T17:40:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T20:40:15","slug":"melco-ceo-purchases-us6-7m-worth-in-the-companys-shares","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/melco-ceo-purchases-us6-7m-worth-in-the-companys-shares","title":{"rendered":"Melco CEO purchases US$6.7m worth in the company\u2019s shares"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Melco Resorts &amp; Entertainment&#8217;s chairman and CEO has purchased US$6.7m worth of the company\u2019s shares through the recently announced share purchase plan for eligible employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- Lawrence Ho,&nbsp;<strong>Melco Resorts&#8217; chairman and chief executive officer<\/strong>, has purchased 1,248,048 Melco Resorts shares (equivalent to US$6.7m), which represent approximately 0.09 per cent of Melco Resorts\u2019 issued shares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Macau Business, Ho participated in the new <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/melco-to-launch-share-purchase-and-award-programme-for-employees\">Share Purchase and Award Program<\/a>&nbsp;in order to<strong>&nbsp;conserve cash<\/strong>&nbsp;as the Group\u2019s operations emerge from Covid-19 restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ho also volunteered to forego the entire amount of his cash compensation from May 2020 to June of this year and has committed to continue not <strong>receiving his base salary for the 12-month period&nbsp;<\/strong>of the Share Purchase and Award Program, from July 2021 to June 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said he will participate in the&nbsp;<strong>Share Purchase and Award Program<\/strong>&nbsp;at an amount equal to the full extent of his base salary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Melco said the programme aims \u201cto recognize the<strong>&nbsp;dedication and commitment of its employees<\/strong>&nbsp;and provide eligible employees the opportunity to benefit from the Company\u2019s long-term growth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the first quarter of the year,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-melco-resorts-revenue-down-36-in-q1\">Melco&#8217;s revenue<\/a>&nbsp;was down&nbsp;<strong>36 per cent&nbsp;<\/strong>in comparison with the US$810m produced during the same period of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Net loss for Q1 was<strong>&nbsp;US$232.9m<\/strong>, or US$0.49 per ADS, compared with a net loss of US$364m, or US$0.76 per ADS, in the first quarter of 2020.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Melco Resorts &amp; Entertainment&#8217;s chairman and CEO has purchased US$6.7m worth of the company\u2019s shares through the recently announced share purchase plan for eligible employees.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":18157,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Melco Resorts & Entertainment's Chairman and CEO, Lawrence Ho, has acquired US$6.7 million in company shares through an employee purchase program, concurrently foregoing his cash compensation to conserve capital post-Covid-19 restrictions.
