There was some confusion because the casino operator made the payment a day late.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The payment forms part of a <strong>court\u00a0order to pay $1.58m\u00a0<\/strong>in liquidated damages and $200,000 in civil penalties. IPI must make\u00a0<strong>six more payments of $164,270.08<\/strong>\u00a0to the US Department of Labor before December 1. The next payment will be on July 16, according to IPI\u2019s lawyer Michael W. Dotts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In April, IPI\u2019s&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/imperial-pacific-faces-indefinite-gaming-licence-suspension\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gaming licence was suspended<\/a>&nbsp;indefinitely as the operator failed to comply with regulatory orders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Commonwealth Casino Commission board has ordered&nbsp;<strong>IPI to pay a penalty of US$6.6m<\/strong>, an annual casino exclusive licence fee of US$15.5m and&nbsp;<strong>annual casino regulatory fees of US$3.1m<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Commonwealth Casino Commission (CCC), IPI\u00a0<strong>violated five orders\u00a0<\/strong>including a failure to pay\u00a0<strong>its US$3.1m annual regulatory fee\u00a0<\/strong>in 2020 and failure to<strong>\u00a0comply with an order to settle debts<\/strong>\u00a0with vendors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>IPI unable to send signed documents to the Commonwealth Casino Commission<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Although&nbsp;<strong>Ray Yumul is the IPI\u2019s current chief executive officer<\/strong>, the CCC said his application won\u2019t be considered as submitted in full until the company pays the applicable fee. As such, he&nbsp;<strong>cannot sign official documents<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The only authorised person to sign or submit documents on behalf of the company is\u00a0<strong>Frances Mafnas<\/strong>, IPI Treasury Director, but he is not licensed as a casino key employee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Saipan Tribune,&nbsp;<strong>IPI reports submitted with no signature<\/strong>&nbsp;could be invalid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Andrew Yeom<\/strong>, CCC executive director, said that due to IPI\u2019s non-payment of regulatory fees, they cannot issue new or renew casino key employee (CKE) or regular employee licences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CCC is debating how to proceed in order to discuss matters or receive certain submissions without having to break its own regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To temporarily amend the situation, the CCC said it\u2019s willing to register&nbsp;<strong>IPI\u2019s non-gaming employees&nbsp;<\/strong>Redie Dela Cruz (human resources director) and Tao Xing (SVP of public affairs).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Imperial Pacific has reported that it has paid its scheduled settlement payments for July although it did so a day late.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":18727,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Imperial Pacific International (IPI) has reported a late settlement payment for court-ordered damages and penalties, amidst its indefinitely suspended gaming license in the Northern Mariana Islands.
