{"id":19964,"date":"2021-07-07T16:23:48","date_gmt":"2021-07-07T16:23:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=19964"},"modified":"2026-04-23T17:50:22","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T20:50:22","slug":"macau-ends-quarantine-requirements-for-visitors-from-guangdong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ends-quarantine-requirements-for-visitors-from-guangdong","title":{"rendered":"Macau ends quarantine requirements for visitors from Guangdong"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Macau authorities have ended restrictions for those coming from Guangdong as Covid-19 cases decline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- A month and a half after imposing a 14-day quarantine on visitors from districts in <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-tightens-controls-amid-rise-in-covid-19-cases-in-guangdong\">Guangdong province<\/a>, Macau has relaxed the restrictions amid a fall in Covid-19 cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Macau&#8217;s government made the announcement today (July 7) after authorities <strong>lifted a quarantine requirement <\/strong>for people travelling from the Dashi subdistrict in Panyu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For now, there is only one city in mainland China that remains on Macau&#8217;s quarantine list: Ruili, in southwest China\u2019s Yunnan province bordering Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There have no been announcements regarding\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-to-resume-covid-19-countermeasures\">Covid-19 countermeasures<\/a> at casinos and other tourism venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People who enter the casinos\u00a0<strong>must wear masks and have their temperature checked<\/strong>. They also have to\u00a0<strong>present the Macao Health Code,\u00a0<\/strong>the government document that classifies health status by colour: red, yellow, and green.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the new measures,&nbsp;<strong>holders whose Macao Health Code is red or yellow will be denied admission<\/strong>&nbsp;to casinos and other venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other venues covered by the countermeasure include hotels and guest houses, restaurants, bars, karaoke lounges, nightclubs, saunas, massage parlours and health clubs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Macau&#8217;s gaming and tourism sectors wait for HK-Macau travel bubble<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/hk-macau-travel-bubble-delayed-again-due-to-new-covid-19-case\">Macau health official<\/a>\u00a0Tai Wa Hou has said<strong>\u00a0more time is needed\u00a0<\/strong>to allow Macau to observe the latest developments in Hong Kong.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two cities were in advanced conversations over easing restrictions as Hong Kong hadn\u2019t recorded a community case since June 7, which means the city had reached the 28 days\u00a0<strong>without a local Covid-19 case<\/strong>\u00a0that Macau set as a condition for a\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/hk-macau-travel-bubble-plans-seem-to-fall-apart-again\">travel bubble<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sanford C. Bernstein Ltd\u00a0<\/strong>said it expected the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/hk-macau-travel-bubble-may-be-limited-to-3000-during-initial-phase\">possible travel bubble<\/a>\u00a0could allow\u00a0<strong>3,000 fully vaccinated<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>visitors\u00a0<\/strong>per day during the initial phase of reopening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However,<strong>&nbsp;Tai Wa Hou<\/strong>&nbsp;has said that any relaxation of restrictions for people travelling from Hong Kong will require \u201cin-depth communication and assessment\u201d with the relevant mainland authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some 51 hotels had expressed an interest in Macau\u2019s plans to allow&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-plans-to-ease-travel-restrictions-with-hong-kong\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">quarantine-free inbound travel<\/a>&nbsp;from Hong Kong.
