Japan.- Nagasaki\u2019s prefectural government has said it working to develop a workforce for its planned integrated resort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

the prefecture will hold a second\u00a0Kyushu Regional Strategy Council (KRSC) meeting<\/strong>, this time composed of\u00a0<\/strong>stakeholders in the tourism, hospitality and education sectors, at the end of the month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In May, a meeting was held to\u00a0discuss how to deal with potential addiction issues\u00a0<\/strong>and handle concerns raised by\u00a0IR opponents<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June, authorities announced\u00a0Oshidori International Holdings<\/strong>,\u00a0Casinos Austria International<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Niki Chau Fwu Group\u00a0<\/strong>had entered the\u00a0second stage<\/a> of the prefecture’s bidding process. Each company will have to show its business strategies and plans to tackle gambling addiction issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nagasaki is due to\u00a0select its final candidate<\/strong>\u00a0in August. The prefecture will then make a submission by 2022 in its bid for permission to develop an integrated resort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The successful <\/strong>IR partner will have to pay JPY158m (US$1.5m)<\/a> for the Request for proposal process and JPY10m (US$92,000) for a background check.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few weeks ago, an anti-IR group called\u00a0Stop Casino! Prefectural Citizens Network\u00a0<\/strong>collected 10,416 signatures against the construction of an\u00a0integrated resort<\/a>\u00a0in Nagasaki. However, it seems the groups that are opposed to the IR are weaker than in other cities like\u00a0Yokohama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Yokohama, there are currently seven anti-IR mayoral candidates for the upcoming elections.\u00a0Yasuo Tanaka<\/strong>, the former governor of Nagano prefecture Tanaka, is the latest to announce he will be a candidate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
