The travel bubble between Hong Kong and Macau has been delayed due to a new case of Covid-19 detected in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Macau.- The long-awaited\u00a0travel bubble\u00a0<\/strong>between Hong Kong and Macau was closer than ever to being announced but\u00a0a new Covid-19 case in Hong Kong has delayed the plans again<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Macau health official Tai Wa Hou said\u00a0more time was needed\u00a0<\/strong>to allow Macau to observe the latest developments in Hong Kong.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hong Kong hadn’t recorded a community case since June 7, which means the city had reached the 28 days\u00a0without a local Covid-19 case<\/strong>\u00a0that Macau set as a condition for a\u00a0travel bubble<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The two cities were in advanced conversations over easing restrictions. Sanford C. Bernstein Ltd\u00a0<\/strong>said it expected the\u00a0possible travel bubble<\/a>\u00a0could allow\u00a03,000 fully vaccinated<\/strong>\u00a0visitors\u00a0<\/strong>per day during the initial phase of reopening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However,\u00a0Tai Wa Hou<\/strong>\u00a0has said that any relaxation of restrictions for people travelling from Hong Kong will require \u201cin-depth communication and assessment\u201d with the relevant mainland authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Some 51 hotels had expressed an interest in Macau\u2019s plans to allow\u00a0quarantine-free inbound travel<\/a>\u00a0from Hong Kong. One of the key matters being discussed was access to casino floors<\/a>, most likely with limits on visitor numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mainland China<\/strong> will continue to be the only country to have a largely quarantine-free travel bubble<\/a> with Macau although the former city is looking to establish a travel bubble with other nearby Asian regions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Authorities have removed Forshan City from the list of regions that require mandatory quarantine.
