Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) has reported KRW14.82bn (US$13.1m) in sales for June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

South Korea.- The South Korean operator of foreigner-only casinos\u00a0Grand Korea Leisure (GKL)<\/strong>\u00a0has reported\u00a0that casino sales in June rose by 45.6 per cent\u00a0<\/strong>when compared to the previous month, up from US$9.2m to US$13.1m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sales were up 18.7 per cent<\/strong>\u00a0when compared to 2020.\u00a0Table games sales reached KRW13.28bn, up 60.6 per cent when compared to May and 27 per cent when compared to last year. Machine game sales\u00a0<\/strong>were weak during June with a decline of 19.3 per cent month-on-month and 24 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the first half of the year, GKL reported\u00a0casino sales of KRW40.29m<\/strong>, down 69.7 per cent when compared to 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Table games aggregate sales\u00a0<\/strong>during the same period were down 71 per cent year-on-year to KKRW34.21bn. Machine game<\/strong> sales reached KRW6.08bn,\u00a0down 59.3 per cent<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The casino operator\u00a0suspended all activities in November 2020\u00a0<\/strong>due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Seven Luck Casino Busan Lotte in Busan reopened in February, while the operator\u2019s\u00a0Seoul venues reopened<\/a>\u00a0in March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In May,\u00a0it was announced that The Millenium Hilton Seoul Hotel<\/strong>, which hosted\u00a0Grand Korea Leisure\u2019s Seven Luck casino<\/a>, would be demolished following its sale. The venue was sold to\u00a0Aegis Asset Management<\/strong>, a domestic real estate fund manager, due to the impact of the\u00a0Covid-19 pandemic on tourism<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aegis plans to build an office building on the site, <\/strong>but it has not yet revealed more details. It is still unknown if the casino will be relocated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
