Macau.- Authorities continue to ease restrictions on travellers from Guangdong amid a decline in the number of new Covid-19 cases.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, authorities are considering extending the current 48-hour vailidity of negative Covid-19 tests<\/strong>, which was shortened due to a rise in Covid-19 cases<\/a> in Guangdong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Guangdong hasn’t registered a new local Covid-19 case for about a week, and Macau has started to ease restrictions with some cities <\/a>from the neighbouring province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, despite a decline in new cases, Tai Wa Hou a clinical director of the Conde de S\u00e3o Janu\u00e1rio Hospital Centre told Macau Post Daily that the Covid-19 outbreak in Guangdong \u201cis still not completely over.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He suggested it \u201cwould not be suitable to return to the previous relaxed Covid-19 measures for those travelling between Guangdong and Macau.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macau’s vaccination rate increases<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to media reports, 230,000 people have been vaccinated <\/strong>against Covid-19 in Macau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number represents 10 per cent of Macau population<\/strong>. It comes after multiple campaigns with the collaboration of casino operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Melco Resorts<\/a> announced that some 2,400 staff and family members were vaccinated<\/strong> at a Covid-19 vaccination event between June 18 and 21. Casino operators MGM China and Sands China<\/strong> have also hosted vaccination services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Macau still has a low vaccination rate <\/strong>as there people who are hesitant about receiving a Covid-19 vaccine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
