Northern Mariana Islands.-\u00a0Imperial Pacific International (IPI)\u00a0<\/strong>has more problems: now it’s been left with nobody to sign official documents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Although\u00a0Ray Yumul is the IPI’s current chief executive officer<\/strong>, the CCC said his application won\u2019t be considered as submitted in full until the company pays the applicable fee. As such, he cannot sign official documents<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The only authorised person to sign or submit documents on behalf of the organisation is\u00a0Frances Mafnas<\/strong>, IPI Treasury Director, but he is not licensed as a casino key employee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to Saipan Tribune, IPI reports submitted with no signature<\/strong> could be invalid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Andrew Yeom<\/strong>, CCC executive director, stated that due to IPI\u2019s non-payment of regulatory fee, they cannot issue new or renew casino key employee (CKE) or regular employee licences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The situation is particularly unusual as the company is not allowed to talk to CCC\u00a0<\/strong>about various matters that need to be discussed in order to achieve clarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The CCC is debating how to proceed in order to discuss matters or receive certain submissions without having to break its own regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To temporarily amend the situation, the CCC said it’s willing to register IPI\u2019s non-gaming employees\u00a0<\/strong>Redie Dela Cruz (human resources director) and Tao Xing (SVP of public affairs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Yeom said: \u201cThis is a borderline approach, but still valid because the registration of non-gaming employees is free of charge in our regulation and clearly stated in our application.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n Imperial Pacific International\u2019s (IPI)<\/strong>\u00a0gaming licence has been suspended<\/a>\u00a0indefinitely as the operator failed to comply with regulatory orders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Commonwealth Casino Commission board has ordered IPI to pay a penalty of US$6.6m<\/strong>, an annual casino exclusive licence fee of US$15.5m and annual casino regulatory fees of US$3.1m<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Although it is still unknown what will happen with IPI’s gaming licence,\u00a0the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands<\/strong>\u00a0has started to discuss the possibility of a future without the casino operator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Representative\u00a0Tina Sablan, said IPI’s licence is likely to be revoked<\/strong>\u00a0as the company failed to remedy the payment of regulatory fees and tax, and more complaints from the regulator are pending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Authorities are\u00a0analysing two new gaming licences for Saipan<\/strong>,\u00a0but discussions are in the initial stages.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\nNext steps if IPI’s licence is revoked<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
