Plans to launch a travel bubble between Hong Kong and Macau have been halted again after a case of the Delta variant of Covid-19 was detected in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Macau.- The long-awaited travel bubble between Hong Kong and Macau won’t be happening soon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to media reports, Hong Kong has detected\u00a0the first local Covid-19 case of the more transmissible Delta variant<\/strong>. That’s led to 180 people being quarantined<\/strong>\u00a0in the Tai Po area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Authorities say the city will continue with plans to\u00a0ease the mandatory quarantine period<\/a>\u00a0to seven days for fully vaccinated travellers. However, it means Hong Kong won’t reach the 28 days without a local Covid-19 case<\/strong> that Macau set as a condition for travel bubble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Alvis Lo lek Long<\/strong>, Macau Health Bureau director, stated that a\u00a0travel bubble<\/a>\u00a0between Hong Kong and Macau could only be contemplated once Hong Kong passed\u00a028 days without a local Covid-19 case<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Authorities had previously said Hong Kong should reach 14 consecutive days without a new Covid-19 case to\u00a0start talks about a travel bubble<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
