Bernstein has reported that&nbsp;<strong>Macau GGR for the third week of June&nbsp;<\/strong>was down by 24 per cent when compared to the&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-down-35-in-second-week-of-june\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">previous week<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Macau&#8217;s GGR was also down 51 per cent from May 2021, when it reached<strong>&nbsp;MOP10.45bn (US$1.31bn)<\/strong>, fueled by the&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-received-165500-visitors-arrivals-over-labour-day-break\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Labour Day break<\/a>, when Macau\u2019s Public Security Police reported that&nbsp;<strong>165,500 tourists came to Macau<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to analysts, Macau&#8217; daily GGR between June 1 and June 20 was MOP205m (US$25.6m), down 39 per cent from May levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Analysts also noted<strong>&nbsp;VIP volume was down 40 per cent <\/strong>month-on-month in average daily rolling volume while average daily mass GGR was down 32 per cent when compared to May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-tightens-controls-amid-rise-in-covid-19-cases-in-guangdong\">Macau<\/a>&nbsp;tightened restrictions and imposed&nbsp;<strong>quarantine measures for arrivals from Guangdong&nbsp;<\/strong>after new Covid-19 cases emerged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government announced&nbsp;<strong>those who had been in Guangzhou or Foshan within the previous 14 days are required to undergo a nucleic acid test<\/strong>. From June 8, people who want to enter Macau from Guandong must show a Covid-19 negative test issued within 48 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The news was received with<strong>&nbsp;some unease from the tourism sector<\/strong>.&nbsp;<strong>Mainland China<\/strong>&nbsp;is the only country to have a&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/covid-19-vaccine-passports-could-speed-up-macau-tourism-recovery\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">largely quarantine-free travel bubble<\/a>&nbsp;with Macau, and the majority of tourists who have come to the city in recent months are from Guandong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to this situation,&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-to-drop-30-in-june-analysts-say\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sanford C. Bernstein<\/a>&nbsp;predicted&nbsp;<strong>GGR for June will be down<\/strong>&nbsp;30 per cent month-on-month. However, they expect a further recovery within July and August during the summer holiday period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In recent days&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-to-ease-controls-with-two-cities-in-guangdong-province\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Macau<\/a>&nbsp;relaxed restrictions in Shenzhen city and Maoming city in mainland China\u2019s Guangdong province.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People coming from<strong>&nbsp;Shenzhen city and Maoming city<\/strong>&nbsp;no longer need to undergo&nbsp;<strong>a 14-day quarantine<\/strong>.
