Police have made six arrests in a raid on an alleged illegal gambling call centre in Taman Senggi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Malaysia.- Police in Taman Senggi, Jalan Bau-Kuching, have arrested four men and two women in a raid on an alleged illegal gambling call centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to officers, those arrested were\u00a0running online gambling including betting on football<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Borneo Post reported that those arrested are aged between 20 and 27 years and are being investigated under the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Among those arrested were\u00a0two Indonesian nationals<\/strong>\u00a0who are being investigated under the Immigration Act 1959\/63. Police seized mobile phones, computer equipment and laptops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The installation of\u00a0illegal gambling call centres in Malaysia is fairly common <\/strong>as are police raids to dismantle the centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A week ago, police\u00a0arrested five men and a woman who were trying to cross the border<\/strong>\u00a0to run an\u00a0illegal gambling operation<\/a>. The\u00a0illegal gambling centre was operating on a 24-hour basis\u00a0<\/strong>with people working in shifts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Those detained who are aged between 18 and 35, allegedly rented an apartment at Klebang Kecil<\/strong> to run the illegal gambling operation centre and had been living there for the past three weeks. Police seized electronic devices<\/strong> during the raid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
