India.- Police in the state of Telangana have arrested\u00a0thirteen people\u00a0<\/strong>who were playing three-card gambling at a private property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among those arrested was the Telangana state labour minister’s brother<\/strong>, Ch Narasimha Reddy, a businessman aged 66.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Times of India, police seized Rs 1.4 lakh cash. Those arrested are also accused of breaking the current Covid-19 social distancing rules imposed by the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this week, police in East Mumbai\u2019s Kurla neighbourhood arrested\u00a0<\/strong>seven men for running an\u00a0illegal online lottery<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those\u00a0arrested were handed over to Nehru Nagar police<\/strong>, which registered a case under IPC, Lottery Regulation Act and Gambling Act provisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An officer said: \u201cIn these lottery systems,\u00a0winners are declared in 15 minutes and no tax is paid<\/strong>\u00a0to state or Central authorities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few weeks ago, police in Vidyanagar arrested 19 men for illegal gambling<\/a> <\/strong>and for disobeying Covid-19 countermeasures imposed by the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A similar case occurred in the city of Guargon, where five people were busted for illegal gambling<\/strong>. Among those arrested was a protocol adviser to a European country\u2019s embassy in Delhi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officers raided a house, where the five men were playing cards and gambling with chips<\/strong>. According to police, the owner of the house and the casino had no licence to operate the venue<\/strong>. People were also again violating Covid-19 restrictions and were not wearing masks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
