Macau.- Macau is easing restrictions<\/strong> amid a\u00a0decline in the number of new Covid-19 cases<\/strong>\u00a0in some cities in mainland China\u2019s Guangdong province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n People coming from\u00a0Shenzhen city and Maoming city<\/strong>\u00a0no longer need to undergo\u00a0a 14-day quarantine<\/strong>. However, authorities warned Macau residents to\u00a0avoid travelling to the cities of Guangzhou and Foshan<\/strong>, where Covid-19 cases remain high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A week ago,\u00a0Macau health authorities<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>imposed a\u00a014-day quarantine\u00a0<\/strong>on people who had been in the districts of Haizhu, Liwan, Nansha, Panyu or Yuexiu in Guangzhou, or the Nanhai and Chancheng districts of Foshan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Macau’s GGR during the second week of June<\/a>\u00a0was down 35 per cent month-on-month to MOP219m (US$27.3m). That compares to\u00a0MOP1.35bn (US$169m) in the first week of June.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Macau\u2019s Gross Gaming Revenue\u00a0in May reached\u00a0MOP10.45bn (US$1.31bn), fueled by the\u00a0Labour Day break<\/a>, when Macau\u2019s Public Security Police reported that\u00a0165,500 tourists came to Macau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, according to Macau\u2019s Public Security Police,\u00a0between June 12 and June 14, only 40,400 tourists arrived in Macau<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mainland China<\/strong>\u00a0is the only country to have a\u00a0largely quarantine-free travel bubble<\/a>\u00a0with Macau, and the majority of tourists who have come to the city in recent months are from Guangdong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Although Covid-19 cases are descending, the\u00a0countermeasures imposed at Macau’s casinos<\/a>\u00a0and other tourism venues will continue for now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n People who enter casinos\u00a0must wear masks and have their temperature checked<\/strong>.
