Macau GGR was down 35 per cent in the second week of June when compared to May, most likely due to the rise in Covid-19 cases in Guandong province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Macau.- Sanford C. Bernstein has reported that\u00a0Macau GGR for the second week of June\u00a0<\/strong>was down by 24.3 per cent when compared to May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n GGR was MOP219m (US$27.3m). That compares to\u00a0MOP1.35bn (US$169m) in the first week of June.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Macau\u2019s Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR)\u00a0<\/strong>in May reached\u00a0MOP10.45bn (US$1.31bn)<\/strong>, fueled by the\u00a0Labour Day break<\/a>, when Macau\u2019s Public Security Police reported that\u00a0165,500 tourists came to Macau<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, a rise in Covid-19 cases in neighbouring Guangdong<\/a>\u00a0province has led Macau\u2019s government\u00a0to reimpose Covid-19 countermeasures<\/a>\u00a0at casinos and other tourism venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n People who enter the casinos\u00a0must wear masks and have their temperature checked<\/strong>. They also have to\u00a0present the Macao Health Code,\u00a0<\/strong>the government document that classifies health status by colour: red, yellow, and green.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, in recent days\u00a0the number of Covid-19 cases has decreased<\/strong>\u00a0and authorities have stated that new cases will reach zero by June 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
