Bernstein has reported that\u00a0<strong>Macau GGR for the second week of June\u00a0<\/strong>was down by 24.3 per cent when compared to May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GGR was MOP219m (US$27.3m). That compares to\u00a0<strong>MOP1.35bn (US$169m) in the first week of June.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Macau\u2019s Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR)\u00a0<\/strong>in May reached<strong>\u00a0MOP10.45bn (US$1.31bn)<\/strong>, fueled by the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-received-165500-visitors-arrivals-over-labour-day-break\">Labour Day break<\/a>, when Macau\u2019s Public Security Police reported that\u00a0<strong>165,500 tourists came to Macau<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-tightens-controls-amid-rise-in-covid-19-cases-in-guangdong\">rise in Covid-19 cases in neighbouring Guangdong<\/a>\u00a0province has led Macau\u2019s government\u00a0to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-to-resume-covid-19-countermeasures\">reimpose Covid-19 countermeasures<\/a>\u00a0at casinos and other tourism venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People who enter the casinos\u00a0<strong>must wear masks and have their temperature checked<\/strong>. They also have to\u00a0<strong>present the Macao Health Code,\u00a0<\/strong>the government document that classifies health status by colour: red, yellow, and green.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, in recent days<strong>\u00a0the number of Covid-19 cases has decreased<\/strong>\u00a0and authorities have stated that new cases will reach zero by June 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-to-drop-30-in-june-analysts-say\">Bernstein<\/a>\u00a0predicts\u00a0Macau&#8217;s <strong>GGR for June will be down<\/strong>\u00a030 per cent month-on-month. They expect a further recovery within July and August during the summer holiday period. <strong>Macau\u2019s GGR is usually weak in June<\/strong>\u00a0when compared to other months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Morgan Stanley&nbsp;<\/strong>also cut its forecast for&nbsp;<strong>Macau gross gaming revenue (GGR) this year by 19 per cent<\/strong>&nbsp;to US$16.3bn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previously, it had said\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-to-reach-us23-6bn-in-2021-analysts-say\">Macau GGR<\/a>\u00a0could reach\u00a0<strong>MOP189bn (US$23.6bn)<\/strong>, about 65 per cent of GGR in 2019.
