{"id":19011,"date":"2021-06-15T11:51:45","date_gmt":"2021-06-15T11:51:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=19011"},"modified":"2026-04-23T18:34:42","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T21:34:42","slug":"manila-general-community-quarantine-extended-until-june-30","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/manila-general-community-quarantine-extended-until-june-30","title":{"rendered":"Manila general community quarantine extended until June 30"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Philippine president, Rodrigo Duterte, has announced that general community quarantine (GCQ) in Manila will remain until the end of June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The Philippines.- Metro Manila will remain under the&nbsp;<strong>less restrictive general community quarantine (GCQ) until&nbsp;<\/strong>June 30, with some restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Philippines\u2019 president announced&nbsp;that <strong>12 provinces and nine cities will be under the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ)&nbsp;<\/strong>and the rest of the country under the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/philippines-to-shorten-curfew-from-tomorrow\">Metro Manila<\/a><strong>&nbsp;has shortened its curfew <\/strong>to run from midnight to 4am. The shorter curfew will allow<strong>&nbsp;people more time<\/strong>&nbsp;to visit malls, travel and eat outside. The measure was taken to&nbsp;<strong>help the economy, which has been severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GCQ allows only essential travel<\/strong>&nbsp;in and out of Metro Manila. Public transportation will operate at reduced capacity. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/sp-expects-philippines-economy-to-rebound-in-2022\">Casinos<\/a> <strong>were allowed to resume operating&nbsp;<\/strong>at a reduced capacity in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In May,<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>the<strong>&nbsp;Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR)<\/strong>&nbsp;remitted Php1.35bn (US$28.3m) to the&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/pagcor-remits-us28-3m-to-philippines-national-treasury\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Treasury<\/a>&nbsp;bringing the total remitted this year to Php3bn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/pagcor-revenue-down-60-in-2020\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PAGOR<\/a>\u2018s revenue for 2020 was<strong>&nbsp;US$624m, down 60.4 per cent<\/strong>&nbsp;year-on-year and the lowest for at least seven years. The<strong>&nbsp;Covid-19 pandemic deeply affected casino revenues<\/strong>&nbsp;due to&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/metro-manila-casinos-to-remain-closed-until-at-least-may-14\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">several lockdowns<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PAGCOR Chairman and CEO&nbsp;<strong>Andrea Domingo<\/strong>&nbsp;said: \u201cAfter more than a year into the pandemic,&nbsp;<strong>PAGCOR is still doing its best<\/strong>&nbsp;to fulfil our mandate and commitment to nation-building.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe may be in a very challenging time, but we are all in this together.
