Huis Ten Bosch, the theme park where Nagasaki\u2019s prefectural government hopes to develop an Integrated Resort, posted a full-year loss of US$1.9m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Japan.-\u00a0Huis Ten Bosch<\/strong>, the Netherlands-themed park in Sasebo where\u00a0the Nagasaki<\/strong> government hopes to develop an integrated resort<\/strong>, has published its financial results for the year ended March 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the company filing, the theme park saw a loss of Y218m (US$1.9m)\u00a0<\/strong>for the fiscal year due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic<\/strong>, which led to a 23.3 per cent fall in visitor numbers year-on-year. Visitor numbers fell to 799,000, with no overseas visitors during the fiscal year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nagasaki continues to advance with its bids to gain one of\u00a0Japan\u2019s planned three licences<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>to develop integrated resorts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In May, the\u00a0Kyushu Regional Strategy Council (KRSC)<\/strong>, comprising the governors of Kyushu prefectures and Yamaguchi prefectures and major regional economic groups, held\u00a0a meeting to launch the Kyushu Addiction Measures Network Council<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to local media, the main goal of the council is to better deal with addiction issues <\/strong>and to handle concerns raised by IR opponents<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three operators<\/a>\u00a0have been selected as potential partners for Nagasaki\u2019s bid to\u00a0develop an integrated resort.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oshidori International Holdings<\/strong>, Casinos Austria International<\/strong> and Niki Chau Fwu Group <\/strong>have entered a competitive dialogue with the prefecture and city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This month, the companies will have to submit\u00a0secondary examination documents<\/strong>. Nagasaki is due to\u00a0select its final candidate<\/strong>\u00a0in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The successful <\/strong>IR partner will have to pay JPY158m (US$1.5m)<\/a> for the Request for proposal process and JPY10m (US$92,000) for a background check. Nagasaki hopes to begin its IR development in the mid or late 2020s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
