Amid a rise of Covid-19 cases in Guangdong, Macau has ordered casino operators to reintroduce safety measures at their venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Macau.- Macau\u2019s government has reimposed Covid-19 countermeasures<\/strong>\u00a0at casinos and other tourism venues due to the increase in Covid-19 cases in neighbouring Guangdong province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n People who enter the casinos\u00a0must wear masks and have their temperature checked<\/strong>. They will also have to\u00a0present the Macao Health Code, <\/strong>the government document that classifies health status by colour: red, yellow, and green.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to the new measures,\u00a0holders whose Macao Health Code is red or yellow will be denied admission<\/strong>\u00a0to casinos and other venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Other venues covered by the countermeasure include hotels and guest houses, restaurants, bars, karaoke lounges, nightclubs, saunas, massage parlours and health clubs.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n Although the situation seems to be controlled,\u00a0the government fears the low rate of vaccination could lead to a rise in Covid-19 cases<\/strong>\u00a0in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Several casino operators have launched vaccination <\/strong>programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Galaxy Entertainment<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>is hosting a\u00a0vaccination point inside its property to vaccinate 1,500 to 1,800 team members<\/strong>\u00a0and their family members between June 10 and June 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All Galaxy Entertainment employees who get vaccinated with the first and the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine will get\u00a0up to two days of \u201cspecial vaccine leave\u201d to rest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Casino operators\u00a0MGM China<\/a>\u00a0and Sands China have already hosted\u00a0vaccination services<\/strong>.\u00a0MGM saw 1,200 of its employees vaccinated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Melco Resorts<\/a> launched an \u201cimmunity incentive programme\u201d <\/strong>to encourage its employees to get vaccinated against Covid-19. It will give each employee a bonus of MOP1,000 (US$125) <\/strong>after getting the vaccine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Those who get the vaccine could also win MOP1m once the company has reached certain immunity targets<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The government of Macau<\/a>\u00a0has started to implement quarantine measures for arrivals from Guangdong\u00a0<\/strong>after new Covid-19 cases were registered in recent weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Macau health authorities have imposed a 14-day quarantine <\/strong>on people who have been in the districts of Haizhu, Liwan, Nansha, Panyu or Yuexiu in Guangzhou, or the Nanhai and Chancheng districts of Foshan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The government announced those who had been in Guangzhou or Foshan within the previous 14 days are required to undergo a nucleic acid test<\/strong>. From June 8, people who want to enter Macau from Guandong must show a Covid-19 negative test issued within 48 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The news was received with some unease from the tourism sector<\/strong>.
