{"id":18861,"date":"2021-06-10T16:21:01","date_gmt":"2021-06-10T16:21:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=18861"},"modified":"2026-04-23T18:41:50","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T21:41:50","slug":"china-announces-new-measures-against-cross-border-gambling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/china-announces-new-measures-against-cross-border-gambling","title":{"rendered":"China announces new measures against cross-border gambling"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Cyberspace Administration of China has announced four new measures to fight cross-border gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>China.- China continues to wage war on <strong>cross-border gambling<\/strong>, both online gambling and gambling at casinos beyond\u00a0<strong>China\u2019s borders.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, the<strong>\u00a0Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC)<\/strong>\u00a0has announced four new measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Global Times, the CAC&#8217;s proposal includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Enhancing precision strikes on overseas gambling groups.<\/li><li>Strengthening supervision of blockchain services and related platforms.<\/li><li>Consolidating the responsibility of online platforms.<\/li><li>Forming effective structure within responsible authorities.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Authorities will punish online platforms that <strong>provide paid promotion services for overseas gambling<\/strong>. The CAC will also<strong> monitor blockchain services<\/strong>, including cloud storage and virtual private network services (VPN) to have more extensive control.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since authorities declared a form of amnesty in February, <strong>914 residents of mainland China have confessed<\/strong> to involvement in&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/china-914-confess-to-cross-border-gambling-crimes-in-amnesty\">cross-border gambling crimes<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of Public Security said that\u00a0<strong>police have investigated more than 18,000\u00a0<\/strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/china-18000-cases-of-cross-border-gambling-detected\">cross-border gambling cases<\/a>\u00a0and arrested 110,000 people since 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Zhao Kezhi, the minister of public security,&nbsp;<strong>police also detected 2,800 illegal payment platforms<\/strong>, more than 3,400 gambling platforms and over 2,200 gambling promotion platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police also raided underground banks and&nbsp;<strong>1,400 illegal technical teams connected to cross-border gambling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Cyberspace Administration of China has announced four new measures to fight cross-border gambling.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":18878,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) has announced four new measures to intensify its crackdown on cross-border gambling, targeting both online operations and overseas casinos.
