Since authorities declared a form of amnesty in February, 914 residents of mainland China have confessed to involvement in cross-border gambling crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

China.- China\u2019s Ministry of Security has reported that 914 residents of mainland China have turned themselves in <\/strong>to confess to involvement in cross-border gambling crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February, China authorities launched a form of amnesty, promising that those who confessed to involvement in cross-border gambling<\/a> before May would be treated with leniency by China\u2019s Ministry of Public Security<\/strong>, the Supreme People\u2019s Court and the Supreme People\u2019s Procuratorate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry of Security has declared the initiative was a success<\/strong>. Meanwhile, public security bureau departments in provinces such as Guangdong, Zhejiang and Jilin, among others, have publicly named suspects in cross-border gambling activities<\/strong> and called on them to turn themselves in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March, China changed its criminal code <\/strong>to make it illegal for anyone to assist others in cross-border gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, Chinese authorities also added new overseas gambling destinations to the country\u2019s blacklist<\/a> <\/strong>of destinations to which cross-border transfers are controlled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry of Public Security has announced that police have investigated more than 18,000 <\/strong>cross-border gambling cases<\/a> and arrested 110,000 people since 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Zhao Kezhi, the minister of public security, police also detected 2,800 illegal payment platforms<\/strong>, more than 3,400 gambling platforms and over 2,200 gambling promotion platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
