Melco Resorts is offering staff US$125 to encourage them to get vaccinated against Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- Melco Resorts has launched an\u00a0“immunity incentive programme”\u00a0<\/strong>to encourage its employees to get vaccinated against Covid-19. It will give\u00a0each employee a bonus of MOP1,000 (US$125)\u00a0<\/strong>after getting the vaccine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those who get the vaccine could also\u00a0win MOP1m once the company has reached certain immunity targets<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Melco Resorts is working in coordination with the\u00a0Macau Health Bureau and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention<\/strong>. It is arranging shuttle transportation for staff to attend vaccination appointments and grants staff two full days of paid vaccine leave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to\u00a0increase the vaccination rate<\/a>\u00a0in Macau, casino operators MGM China and Sands China are hosting vaccination services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MGM China <\/strong>will host vaccinations on May 24 and 25. Sands China <\/strong>from May 31 to June 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to health authorities,\u00a090,267 people in Macau have been vaccinated\u00a0<\/strong>with at least one dose \u2013 nearly 13 per cent of Macau’s population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Leong Iek Hou<\/strong>, Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre coordinator, said vaccinated residents<\/strong>\u00a0will be allowed to go to public events such as concerts, sports competitions and festivals\u00a0without a negative nucleic acid test<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April,\u00a0Melco Resorts<\/a>\u00a0reported\u00a0<\/strong>that income came in at US$520m during the first quarter of the year. That represents\u00a0a decrease of 36 per cent in comparison with the US$810m produced during the same period of 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fall is expected considering the ongoing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the decline in inbound tourism<\/strong>. Lawrence Ho, president, and general director of Melco <\/strong>said that the company had seen a moderate recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Melco<\/a> also announced the launch of several programmes for voluntary extended leave or voluntary redundancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cNew Chapter\u201d voluntary exit programme offers Melco employees up to 12 months base salary with guaranteed tips to exit the company to seek other opportunities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Employees can also apply for a special leave arrangement on 40 per cent <\/strong>of monthly salary for between six and twelve months, with permission to work elsewhere.
