{"id":18109,"date":"2021-05-20T15:29:03","date_gmt":"2021-05-20T15:29:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=18109"},"modified":"2026-04-23T19:21:41","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T22:21:41","slug":"ph-resorts-expects-tourism-recovery-amid-vaccination-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/ph-resorts-expects-tourism-recovery-amid-vaccination-plan","title":{"rendered":"PH Resorts expects tourism recovery amid vaccination plan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>PH Resorts hopes for a recovery of the tourist sector as the Philippines&#8217; vaccination plan moves forwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The Philippines.-\u00a0<strong>PH Resorts Group Holdings\u00a0<\/strong>hopes for an economic recovery in the following months as long as vaccines are rolled out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Ministry of Health, <strong>the Philippines has given at least one dose of a vaccine to 3.3 million<\/strong> of its 108 million population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jose Angel Sueiro,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/ph-resorts-delays-cebu-ir-first-phase-opening-to-q3-2022\">PH Resorts<\/a> chief operating officer, said he expects a soft opening of Emerald Bay resort in Cebu in the second quarter of 2022 and completion of Phase 1 in the third quarter of next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sueiro said: &#8220;The re-imposition of<strong>\u00a0stricter quarantine measures<\/strong>\u00a0in March earlier this year created more difficulties in the construction of Emerald Bay in terms of labour mobilization and materials delivery just as we were generating momentum.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company had originally hoped for a<strong>&nbsp;soft launch by the end of this year<\/strong>. That was put back to&nbsp;<strong>the second quarter of 2022<\/strong>&nbsp;due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. It\u2019s now put the completion of phase 1 back&nbsp;<strong>to the third quarter of 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second phase, which will add more than 700 electronic gaming machines and 146 additional gaming tables, is now slated for completion<strong>\u00a0by 2026<\/strong>. The<strong>\u00a0second phase will also include space for meetings and exhibitions<\/strong>\u00a0and a second five-star hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Manila IRs allowed to receive guests&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Philippines Department of Tourism (DOT) has recently allowed\u00a0<strong>13 Manila Integrated Resorts<\/strong>\u00a0to reopen and receive guests for staycations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a&nbsp;<strong>total of 5,986 rooms<\/strong>&nbsp;between them, Metro Manila IRs may&nbsp;<strong>receive only staycation guests from within the National Capital Region<\/strong>. Guests must be aged between 18 and 65.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The announcement comes a few days after the government announced that&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/metro-manila-eases-covid-19-restrictions\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Metro Manila<\/a>&nbsp;would&nbsp;<strong>ease Covid-19 countermeasures<\/strong>&nbsp;after a drop in the number of active cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although Metro Manila IRs have been allowed to receive guests,&nbsp;<strong>there have been no further announcements regarding the reopening of casinos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PH Resorts hopes for a recovery of the tourist sector as the Philippines&#8217; vaccination plan moves forwards.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":18122,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"PH Resorts Group Holdings has revised the timeline for its Emerald Bay resort in Cebu, with Phase 1 now expected for a soft opening in Q2 2022 and completion in Q3 2022, citing COVID-19 related construction challenges.
