It is still unknown if casinos will open their doors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The Philippines.- The government has announced that\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/metro-manila-casinos-to-remain-closed\">Metro Manila<\/a>\u00a0will ease Covid-19 countermeasures from tomorrow (May 15).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The city will come under the <strong>less restrictive general community quarantine (GCQ) until May 31.\u00a0<\/strong>That allows some activities at a reduced capacity depending on the industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, authorities have not mentioned a possible reopening of\u00a0<strong>casinos, lottery and betting shops, horse racing and cockfighting venues<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Casinos at Entertainment City shut in March<\/strong>. For now, Okada Manila, City of Dreams Manila and Solaire Resort and Casino have not updated their websites to announce a reopening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GCQ allows only essential travel<\/strong>\u00a0in and out of Metro Manila. Public transportation will operate at reduced capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PAGCOR\u00a0<\/strong>has reported that licensed casinos and PAGCOR-operated casinos brought in GGR<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>of PHP25.74bn (US$536.2m)<strong>\u00a0in Q1<\/strong>. Of that, <strong>82.1 per cent <\/strong>came from\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/philippine-ggr-reaches-us536-2m-in-first-quarter-of-2021\">Metro Manila casinos<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Philippines&#8217; president has announced Metro Manila will move to general community quarantine until May 31.
