The news may scupper potential buyers&#8217; hope for a discount, JP Morgan says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Australia.- The New South Wales regulator, the&nbsp;<strong>ILGA, has praised Crown Resorts&#8217; decision&nbsp;<\/strong>to comply with a request to introduce cashless gaming to make its operations more transparent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It says that if <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/ilga-crown-resorts-unsuitable-to-operate-barangaroo-casino\">Crown Resorts<\/a>\u00a0continues taking steps to address the findings of the ILGA&#8217;s inquiry into the operator, it may be able to retain its gaming licence and open its casino at its venue in Sydney&#8217;s Barangaroo district by October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In February, the ILGA inquiry found Crown to be&nbsp;<strong>\u201cquite unsuitable\u201d to hold a licence<\/strong>&nbsp;for its new casino. Non-gaming facilities at the property have opened without the casino, with a <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/crowns-barangaroo-casino-gets-interim-liquor-licence\">liquor licence<\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>now extended until October 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ILGA Chairman Philip Crawford stated: &#8220;I think you can assume that we are hopeful and-or confident that&nbsp;<strong>the opening of the gaming rooms will happen well in advance of the end of October<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crown must pay <strong>AU$12.5m to cover the cost of the ILGA inquiry <\/strong>and must pay an&nbsp;annual Casino Supervisory Levy&nbsp;of AU$5m for fiscal years 2021 and 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crown\u2019s Executive Chairman, Helen Coonan said. &#8220;It\u2019s important to know we are well on track but I have assured<strong>\u00a0the regulator there will be no complacency\u00a0<\/strong>as we continue to embed the changes to improve our governance and compliance processes across the organisation.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Offers to buy Crown Resorts may be affected<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to JP Morgan, the news that Crown may receive its Barangaroo licence by October <strong>may not be welcomed by companies that have made offers to buy the operator<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Analysts at the financial services company think the three bidders, Blackstone, The Star Entertainment and Oaktree Capital Management, <strong>factored discounts into their offers<\/strong> due to the possibility of Crown losing the gaming licence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It said: &#8220;Today\u2019s announcement was no surprise, but\u00a0<strong>it did remove the discount bidders\u00a0applied <\/strong>on fears ILGA would never grant an NSW licence.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blackstone Group has recently increased its original offer for Crown from\u00a0<strong>AU$11.85 cash per share to AU$12.35<\/strong>. Meanwhile, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/crown-receives-acquisition-offer-from-the-star-entertainment\">The Star Entertainment<\/a>\u00a0has made an offer of AU$12bn (US$9.4bn) and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/oaktree-makes-us2-32bn-offer-for-james-packers-crown-shares\">Oaktree Capital Management<\/a>\u00a0made an\u00a0<strong>offer of AU$3bn<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A potential fourth bidder,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/another-contender-could-enter-the-bidding-for-crown-resorts\">CC Land Holdings<\/a>, a Hong Kong real-estate company, has <strong>yet to make an offer yet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The New South Wales regulator has said Crown Resorts is on track to open its Barangaroo casino by October.
