{"id":17847,"date":"2021-05-13T14:41:19","date_gmt":"2021-05-13T14:41:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=17847"},"modified":"2026-04-23T19:34:48","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T22:34:48","slug":"galaxy-entertainment-revenue-up-5-6-in-q1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/galaxy-entertainment-revenue-up-5-6-in-q1","title":{"rendered":"Galaxy Entertainment revenue up 5.6% in Q1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Galaxy Entertainment has experienced a slight recovery in gaming revenue thanks to the increase in visitor arrivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.-\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/galaxy-entertainment-returns-to-positive-ebitda\">Galaxy Entertainment<\/a>\u00a0has shared its financial results for the first quarter of the year, reporting\u00a0<strong>gaming revenue of HK$3.86bn, up 5.6 per cent when compared to the previous quarter<\/strong>\u00a0but down 4.7 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company reported <strong>adjusted EBITDA of HK$859m (US$110.6m), up 203.5 per cent\u00a0<\/strong>when compared to last year but down 15 per cent quarter-on-quarter. <strong>Net revenue was HKD5.07bn<\/strong>, up 0.5 per cent from Q1 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the three months to March 31,\u00a0<strong>VIP gaming turnover <\/strong>was nearly HKD47.24bn, <strong>down 30.7 per cent year-on-year<\/strong> but up 7.6 per cent from the fourth quarter of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mass table turnover was HKD11.59bn<\/strong>, down 3.8 per cent quarter-on-quarter but up 3.5 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the group\u2019s chairman, Lui Che Woo,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/galaxy-vice-chairman-hopes-for-macau-recovery-after-vaccine-rollout\">Galaxy<\/a>\u00a0has been\u00a0<strong>benefited from the easing of restrictions relating to Covid-19<\/strong>, which has translated into increased revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sanford C. Bernstein says\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/galaxy-in-prime-position-for-post-pandemic-recovery-analysts-say\">Galaxy Entertainment Group<\/a>\u00a0is<strong>\u00a0\u201cin a prime position for post-pandemic recovery\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0as the group is the only major operator that hasn\u2019t raised capital due to its debt-free balance sheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/galaxy-macau-phase-4-to-move-ahead\">Galaxy Entertainment Group<\/a>\u00a0is working to<strong>\u00a0complete the development of Galaxy Macau\u2019s Phase 4<\/strong>.
